Sailing the Seas
A day at sea. A day of relaxation, blogging, reading sleeping - a perfect day ahead, or so I thought. With Mom’s shoulder injured the day before we stopped at the Medical Center, aka “Sick Bay” to see about getting her a sling. Of course they wanted to check her out rather than just give one out. Since she was on a Holland America shore excursion it was considered a PAX Injury (passenger injury) and a report had to be given to the Security Officer, then an exam by the doctor and x-rays. The doctor was a hoot - an emergency room doctor from Ontario, Canada who works cruises about 3 times a year. She not only gave Mom a sling and exercises to strengthen her rotator cuff, she also gave her instructions on how to use her cane. Turns out she was using it on the wrong side. By the time we left the Medical Center it was about time for her next acupuncture treatment so I had "Dad" duty. We hung out on the deck chatting and having quality Daddy n’ Me time. What a blessing! At 5:00 Mom and I went to the Thermal Relaxation Room - a wonderful hot tub and the coolest chaise (actually hottest!) lounges. They were heated, mosaic chaise lounges. They were amazing! During our time in the hot tub Mom noticed one of the other women was in the buff as she re-wrapped her towel around herself. The next thing we knew, out came her male companion from the showers also in the buff. Fortunately Mom didn’t see him or she would’ve screamed. Now she says she saw him, just not the whole thing; or was it see his whole thing? Whatever. Nothing like the best laid plans!
