Walkin’ in the Rain, Just Walkin’ in the Rain!

This is our last day in Copenhagen as we board the ship around 1:00. The hotel we stayed in is Cabb INN. We got a great rate for the rooms and found out why the hard way. It definitely is not a full-service hotel. We had to pay for almost anything we asked for including a late check-out. The fee is $70 DK per hour (approximately $14). We wanted to check-out at 1:00 but they would only let us stay until 12:00. Since we didn’t really have a choice, we paid the fee, then took another hop-on-hop-off bus tour in the morning to see the west side of town. Unfortunately the weather turned nastier than the day before - bitter, stinging rain - so we never hopped off the bus. We did get to see some great sights though. As the tour came to the end, we were near our hotel and talked the driver into letting us off so we didn’t have to walk back in the rain. Because the weather was so nasty Mom and I were able to convince Dad to take a taxi to the ship rather than the local bus - yeah! Unfortunately though, he decided we needed more Danish Kroner so he and I set off to the bank a couple of blocks from our hotel. Since the ATM wasn’t working we went inside to get some cash. When we told the teller that we needed cash since the ATM was out of order she said “I know but I can’t help you.” Note to self: customer service is different in other countries than the US. She said the closest bank was a “2 or 5 minute walk” up the street (so which is it? 2 or 5 minutes??). Remember, the bitter, stinging rain? It was even worse. After going a few blocks I finally convinced Dad we should go back to the hotel, get a cab, find out if they take credit cards (they do) and if not they can take us to a bank and wait. We were drenched by the time we made it back to the hotel. We called for a cab and headed for the ship. After a semi-brief wait, we were checking in and headed on board. We had plenty of time to unpack and walk around the ship before the safety drill. Finally, it was time to head for the open waters. Bon voyage!
